UCSD is holding an Industry Networking Night with a number of large San Diego-area companies, and has extended an invite to the SVO@SDSU. This event is being held on May 21 (one week from today) at the UCSD Career Services Center.
RSVP is required. When RSVPing, make sure to clearly state to Ms. Tillman that you are a part of the SVO@SDSU, as our inclusion is a special favor for this otherwise UCSD only event.
The Cesar Chavez Commemorative Scholarship was brought to our attention by our own Virginia Martinez. This scholarship is for individuals (or immediate family members of individuals) who are employed in a service field, as defined below.
The application deadline on this scholarship is March 8, so apply immediately if you qualify.
From Student Affairs:
The intent of the Cesar Chavez Commemorative Scholarship is to alleviate some of the struggles associated within the life a farm worker family, a domestic worker family, or a service worker (in the food, hospitality, construction, or homecare field) family. The selection committee is interested in what motivated you to go to college, how your upbringing influenced your decision, and a description of your financial circumstances as well as a description of how you have or expect to demonstrate the principles of Cesar E. Chavez to help others in the tradition he established.
